Goodbye Idaho

July 1, 2011

I am currently enroute to California and yes I made all of my shit fit in my tiny suitcase.

Goodbye Idaho well technically Spokane since that is where I take off from.

So pretty this time of year

Now, I’m sitting at SEATAC eating dinner. In my attempt to eat healthy I got a delicious salad from Qdoba. When I was living in Juneau I would get so excited about getting to eat in Seattle, Qdoba being one of my favorites.  The food in Juneau sucks, unless you like seafood I suppose. I don’t. Now it ain’t no thing.

Yes that is my foot on the left

I didn’t even eat the shell. And now I will just pretend like I didn’t get a chocolate muffin at Starbucks earlier Smile

My flight has been delayed half an hour. Hopefully I get to Cali sometime tonight!

Week 4 Weigh In

May 6, 2011

Weight as of 5/5: 156

Well the scale is going in the opposite direction that I want it to :/ But given the fact that I have been on vacation pretty much all month I am not surprised. I unrealistically thought I could go out of town and not drink and eat myself silly. This did not happen, case in point:

5.2.11 011

First night in Seattle

5.2.11 032

Second night in Seattle – Best $5 wine ever

And there was a lot more where that came from but that was all I documented.

I have had a rough month but am ready to get back into it and have been doing well this week. Food wise, Monica shared a great acronym the other day: HALT – Hungry Angry Lonely Tired. I am an emotional eater and thinking about this acronym (and maybe even writing it out on the fridge) will help stop my urge to over eat when I am feeling angry, lonely, or tired. Lately I have been lonely after getting home from work and this is when I end up over eating the most often.

Also helpful, having a small – re: less than 100 calorie – treat after dinner. Tonight I had a VitaTop, so good and only 100 calories.

And last night I had 4 yogurt covered almonds. Having something sweet after dinner gives a cue to my body that it is time to stop eating.

Biking ~1 hr.

I rode to work for the first time today and it was not as bad as I envisioned. It required a little more planning and preparing Wednesday night and moving my alarm clock across the room so that I wouldn’t press the snooze button ten times. But I did it and it was trying and cold but like I said not that bad. I then rode the bike shop to get my card stamped for the Commuters Challenge.

Conveniently, the gym I go to is only about a mile up the street from my house and the bike trail across the street leads right to it. So when I was on my way to the bike shop I stopped by the gym really quickly to sign up for 2 things: American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and a Masters Swim Team. I am really excited for both. My first swim with the masters team is at 5 am tomorrow morning, I hope I don’t sleep in!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Seattle Shopping

May 5, 2011

Literally the first thing I did after arriving in Seattle was Google the closest Lululemon! Seriously my favorite workout clothes ever! The wunder unders are awesome leggings too that I always wear out running errands and stuff. Since I discovered the brand I have never lived near one so I have done all my shopping on their website or eBay. This is probably a good thing though cause otherwise I would spend way to much buying all their stuff! So whenever I am in a city that has one I make sure to stop by. This trip I had planned on doing very little shopping but unfortunately I suck at that. haha But I have been feeling down about my weight lately so my motivation to purchase form fitting workout clothes was really lacking. I ended up walking out of the store with only one purchase, the Down Time Jacket.

This was the only picture I could find, but mine is in solid black. I love it! I think this jacket will be good to use as a to and from as well as wearing it outside while working out. I got a size 8 and it fits great, roomy enough to wear layers underneath but not to big.

We also stopped by Forever 21 because they had a grand opening of a 3 story store! Crazy, it was literally the largest Forever 21 I have ever been in. The local radio station were advertising free gift cards to shoppers there when the store opened its doors bright and early Saturday morning. So we woke up bright and early to get there and when we circled the block trying to find parking we discovered the line to get in was wrapped around the block. There was no way we were waiting but we came back later and I got some cute stuff for summer.

Shirt: $24 Shorts (for when I love 10 lbs.): $12.50

Love Forever 21! They also gave out free umbrellas with every purchase, perfect  for Seattle.

5.4.11 012

My last clothing purchase was because I forgot a coat and it was freezing!

5.2.11 043

H&M $59

A trench coat! I have been wanting one forever and loved this one as soon as I saw it.

Besides souvenirs that’s pretty much all the shopping I did.

May 3, 2011

Last Wednesday morning afternoon I made the 5 hr-ish trek to Seattle with a friend. I had 4 days of vacation left to use up by today and neither of us have ever had the chance to explore the city (although I almost moved there!), so naturally we hit up a lot of the touristy spots

5.2.11 019

At the Seattle Center

5.2.11 023

5.2.11 045

The Space Needle

5.2.11 052

The View

We wanted to have one fancy dinner while there and decided to do it at the restaurant in the Space Needle. We got dressed up and made it to our reservation early so that we could check out the observation deck. Once seated we took out time and spent about two hours in the restaurant. Besides the view, the food was fantastic (although overpriced.) The next best part were what was left on the wall. The restaurant spins so that you can get a 360 degree view but the outside wall doesn’t. So we saw all kinds of notes and someone even left a pack of gum! It was fun Smile

5.2.11 069

5.2.11 062

The Aquarium

5.2.11 070

View of the city from our boat tour

We also went to Pike’s Place Market. They sell beautiful flowers all through out Pike’s as well as other farmer Market type things. The coolest part was seeing the first Starbucks! Of course it was packed but we went in really quickly to get a mug. All the merchandise has the original logo on it which is kinda cool.

Since we were going to The Aquarium first we parked down by the shore and then took an elevator to the market. Well when we got in the elevator there was a man dressed in a suit covered in metallic silver paint with a box that matched. He then proceeded to tell us that this was his elevator, it was made for him and you could tell because it was all silver! haha It was pretty funny, then later we saw him posing for pictures with tourist for money and then it made more sense. And then while walking back to the car saw this guy on the side of a building

5.2.11 078

Wtf is this about? He totally matched the crazy silver guy in the elevator!

I’m going to do another post on shopping cause I got some really cute stuff, man do I miss living closer to a city!
